About us
Made slowly, in Budapest
We started slownote because we missed writing things down. Life moves quickly, and putting pen to paper is one of the few things that helps us slow down.
Each journal is handcrafted in our Budapest workshop from premium European leather, one at a time: cut, stitched, edge-finished and assembled by hand. We hope it becomes something you reach for every day, and that it grows more beautiful with every note, trip and year.

We choose leather from a few tanneries we trust. It softens, develops a natural patina and gains character from the way you use it.
Does the journal come with a notebook?
Yes. Every slownote journal comes with a notebook insert, ready to use from day one. We usually include Clairefontaine or Moleskine Cahier, depending on availability. The cover is fully refillable.
Can I use my own notebooks?
Yes. The journals fit A6 notebooks, 9 × 14 cm (3.5 × 5.5 in), such as Clairefontaine, Moleskine Cahier and similar.
Is it really handmade?
Yes. Every journal is cut, stitched, edge-finished and assembled by hand in our Budapest workshop, in small batches.
Which leather do you use?
Premium leathers from European tanneries: Alran (France), Walpier (Italy) and La Bretagna (Italy). Each product page tells you exactly which leather it is made from.
Will my journal look exactly like the photos?
Not exactly, and that's the beauty of it. Leather is natural, so every journal has its own grain, markings and subtle colour differences. Over time it softens and develops a patina shaped by how you use it.
How fast is shipping?
We usually ship within 2 business days, and your journal arrives within 7 business days. We send every order with FedEx, with a tracking number.
